Classification of organic conductive fibers

There are three kinds of manufacturing methods of organic conductive fiber, which are conductive material coating type, conductive polymer direct spinning type and conductive material blending with polymer or composite spinning type.


1. Conductive material coated fiber

The coating type organic conductive fiber coated with metal, carbon and other conductive materials has good conductive effect because the conductive materials are exposed in the outer layer of the fiber. However, this kind of fiber has some defects, such as poor wear resistance, washing resistance, and bending resistance. After a period of use, conductive particles are easy to fall off, which affects the performance of the fiber.


2. Conductive polymer fiber

Organic conductive fibers can be directly spun from polyacetylene, polyaniline, polypyrrole, thiophene and other conductive polymers. However, due to the conjugated structure in the main chains of these polymers, the molecular chains are rigid, difficult to dissolve and melt, and difficult to spin and process. In addition, the oxygen atom in some of the polymers is easy to react with water, and some of the monomers are more toxic. These greatly increase the production cost of synthesis process and forming process. But at present, some conductive polymers have been successfully prepared by the methods of hybridization, adsorption or wet spinning.


3. Blend or composite spinning fiber

Using carbon black, metal oxide and other conductive materials and common polymers for CO blending or composite spinning, organic conductive fibers with excellent performance can be made.


Application

The conductive fabric made of conductive fiber has great functions of conduction, heat conduction, shielding and absorption of electromagnetic waves, and is widely used in conductive mesh and conductive overalls in the electronics and electric power industries; electric heating clothes, electric heating surfaces, electric heating bandages in the medical industry; aviation, Electromagnetic shields for aerospace and precision electronics industries. Conductive fibers can be used in the fields of antistatic textiles, electromagnetic radiation resistant textiles, smart textiles and military textiles.

This fiber not only makes the wearer feel warm, but also has a sun drying time of 2/3 of the conventional fiber after washing, and the quick-drying property is an additional characteristic of the fiber. Since the conductive particles of such fibers are in the core of the fiber, the usual processing, washing, dyeing, and the like do not affect the electrical durability of the fiber.
